Omg, people really care about your rank!?!?!? I have got to rethink HA and PvP and my life as a whole based on this BRAND NEW INFORMATION.
Has happened forever and will continue. At least you are one of the most constructive posts on it, most people sit there and whine about it. Good Job

The reason people cling to rank is because as terrible as it is for telling how good somebody is, it's the only measurement of skill that this game has unless you actually know the person.
If you play Hero's Ascent a lot getting a high rank shouldn't be hard anyways, so I don't see why people complain.
The problem comes when people who have a low rank magically get this grand idea that they are good enough to play with the higher ranked people. While this may be true; there are a lot of good people with low titles, it is generally not the case and the title shows that you've at least put some effort into getting better.
Suggestion: Stop whining and just get the title first, everyone else who played tombs had to do it, what's so special about you?
By the time that you have a high rank in tombs you won't want to play with low ranked people either, because the whole reason you put work into getting a high rank is so that you don't have to play with the low rank noobs anymore. That's just the way it is.

Although rank does not indicates a player's skill, it DOES indicate their experience to some extent. So it does have a use, just not as important as a lot of people think.

- It's not about hardship of getting high rank, I'm saying that the rank has little indication to how successful the person will be in the next encounter, which is what everybody is interested in. Once you've gotten your rank 9, you're rank 9 infuser, rank 9 interrupter, rank 9 target caller, rank 9 team former all at the same time. Today and after taking one year break, no matter what the current metagame is. Yeah right! It just doesn't work at all and I'm genuinely surprised so many people think it does.
People don't realize that their own piss-poor attitude and unreasonable expectations are what breaks chances to have good run. Getting 8% at zaishens starts the insecurity blamewagon. You think that you're in losing team. You start to watch what your teammates are doing instead of trying your own best. If you lose match, you never need to reason why. Just kick the lowest ranking member in team and get someone else in. Example: Double-smite, ele, healers boon monk team faces off against team with Well of Profane, which ends in ruin -> verdict: the monk sucks, KICK!!! Ever wondered why it's 50% of the time that teams need new Monk?

If the HB monk was standing in the well, then he is terrible and deserves to be kicked, end of story. If it was the rest of the team standing in the well, then the HB monk is still terrible for not yelling at them to get out and still deserves to be kicked.
Every low ranked player in HA thinks they're good enough to play with higher ranked teams. They are wrong. It's that simple. Get over it, play the game, and soon you'll have your own rank and you'll see what I mean.

QQ i feel entitled to join other people's high ranked groups QQ :'(
make your own group full of low ranked pugs, hold halls with them, and everyone will magically no longer care about rank and the world will be a better place and there will be cake and dancing and joy.

Its funny, the old system of emotes and no title was better for players I think.
When I play(ed) with players lower rank than me, you lose a lot more often (go figure) but you also dont improve by limiting yourself because you essentially will gain little to no experience on later maps.
When I play with people my same rank we all get in a groove but nobody has anything to offer the team in terms of ways to improve, we are all equally skilled.
When I play with people higher rank than me I learn something on every map, also my mistakes as small as I think they may be, are glaringly obvious to the other players, they dont hesitate to call you out on it, and thus --> improve as a player.
The flip side of course is why would they take me?? I make mistakes I shouldnt make at their level, I guess as long as we are winning its all good? I really dont know.
Anyways this is why the old pugs were better for the players, you cant join R9+ pugs with a wolf, but as a FRESH R6 player with a shiny wolf you can end up in R8 teams with better more exp. players and learn, likewise you get your tiger and join some R10/11 teams they are GOING to know things you dont, I try to play with higher ranks whenever possible.
But with the new(er) title system people know that r8 players are a better bet than an r6 player, as a r8 player yourself surely you can notice better results in r8 pugs than r6?
I guess if we are talking low ranks, R0 -> r6 the difference in skill between these two ranks is minimal compared to the difference between r8 -> r9 simply you need more fame/better runs to get to the higher ranks so each subsequent rank actually SHOULD mean something

The rule remains - if you were good enough to be a R9 player and cared about having R9, you'd have it by now.

I understand why people "cling" to rank. Experience, skill, whatever. What I don't understand is why people are so judgmental towards those with lower ranks, and why there's only 1 way to gain rank. Here's how I see it:
- You gain rank through wins in HA.
- You have to be on a good team to win.
- You need to have a good rank to get on a good team.
- If you have no rank, you're screwed.
It all makes sense, it's just unfair to people who havent been playing for 3-4 years.

Two of my guild have gone from r0 to r3 and r4 respectively in less than a month, so people need to learn to friend's list.

That's the problem though. They can't get on teams to "make friends" because everyone assumes they're a noob for not having rank. I've been there. However, it is definitely possible to achieve minimal ranks with a bit of luck. It just takes forever, causes people to lose interest in the game.

Why cling to rank? you can look into real life. Why do some people go to a low ranked college, middle ranked college, and high ranked college? This is to separate the good from the bad. Same thing with rank, you're more likely to win a match if you play with high rank people.

I disagree. High-ranked players are open-headed. As long as your advice is reasonable and smart, most players will most likely to accept your ideas. Remember, players play to win the Hall of heroes for awards and fame. If there are any better ideas that help them achieve that, I AM POSITIVE they will accept the idea. If you offer an advice that is useless to the team, what is the point of accepting that idea?
